Behold the amazing submissions for Ignite Phoenix #2!
by Jeff Moriarty on October 10, 2008
Submissions for presentation ideas for Ignite Phoenix #2 are now closed, and just take a look below at the
thirty one amazing entries we received!
This weekend a group of judges will be reviewing all the submissions and identifying 19 that will make up the final lineup. Normally there are only 16 presentations, but this time in addition to the main Ignite Phoenix event at Jobing.com offices on October 29th, we are also doing a special “mini-Ignite” in conjunction with PodcampAZ , which is being hosted at the University of Advancing Technology (UAT) on Nov 1st and 2nd. This “mini-Ignite” session will be Saturday morning and the format will be exactly the same, 5 minutes and 20 slides, just only three presenters. PodcampAZ looks to be an amazing event this year so we’re very excited to be part of it!
It’s going to be a tough job to pick the final presentations from this list, but it does mean that we’re going to have a great show! You can RSVP at Upcoming if you haven’t done so already.

When someone is told to imagine a nonprofit organization, they most likely see men with copious amounts of facial hair and body odor, or people begging for money with more vigor than the people they are serving. Our proud nation was built on the foundations of voluntary action and community engagement, it’s time for us to start acting like it again. |

Lets face it, the [traditional] music industry is f*cked! For too many years, they’ve raped musicians, while screwing music consumers out of every last penny they could! I mean, $18 for a CD that cost 5 cents to make? C’mon!! WTF?!?! While the iTunes music store proven that digital music downloads could be turned into a viable business, even Apple is threatening that any change to the business model could force them to shut down the iTunes music store. The reality is, the traditional music industry just doesn’t work anymore. We need new solutions, and a new business model. We need a solution that fights global poverty by helping musicians to earn a living from their music, whether they live in Nashville, or Nambia. We call that solution “Social Entrepreneurship Applied to the Music Business.” |
