I’m not yet coherent enough to form complex thoughts about last night, but here are some simple ones.
We are going through venues at an alarming rate. Best guess was 350 people showed up (the room held 220), and we got in a wee bit of trouble with the Fire Marshal. We had nearly three times as many attendees as last time, but everyone was awesome about working with us through the craziness. No idea how that ‘viewing area’ got set up in the lobby with streaming video and chairs but I appreciate that being set up!
Big thanks to Tempe Councilmember Onnie Shekerjian for welcoming Ignite to Tempe, BitGravity for the high quality streaming, and to all of our sponsors and supporters who help to make it happen.
The presenters rocked! Incredible content from start to finish, from community involvement to solar panels to the meaning of life itself (almost). The video chatroom was apparently quite lively, and we should have the videos up on Blip.TV soon.
The audience rocked! Supportive, engaged, and tweeting the blazes out of things. #ignitephx was the 2nd highest topic after American Idol. I had lots of great feedback from people, especially first timers, and people willing to pitch in and help with some of the crazy little issues throughout the night.
There were a few burps, like the Wifi access and people repeatedly leaning against the light switches, but all things considered they ended up being rather minor.
We’ve had a lot of great input from attendees, like putting presenter’s Twitter handles on the slides so people can follow them on the spot, but if you were there and have other ideas, let us know in the comments below.
If you were a presenter, please put your contact info and Twitter handle (if you have one) in the comments so others can follow you (and remind everyone which presentation you gave).
Pictures are starting to show up on Flickr – use the tag “ignitephx” if you add your own.
Thanks for supporting Ignite and making last night so much danged fun.
~ Jeff, Roger, Tomas, Charlene, Paul, Alan, Clint, Dannie, and the whole crew.

This was my first ignite and it did not disappoint. The energy in the room was amazing and all the speakers did an outstanding job. Many thanks to all the people that put this together. It was absolutely incredible.
If you can’t tell, I really like it.
@dpatricklewis
This was my first Ignite event even though I’d been wanting to attend one since the August one. Very cool indeed. Loved the presentations, especially the variety of topics discussed. It certainly made me think and has kept my creative juices running all morning!
Kudos to the organizers. Congrats on a job well done.
So much energy and good times there. Great job guys.
@austinmiles
To echo Shailesh’s comments, Kudos to the organizers! The event was amazing, the presenters were very entertaining and thought provoking. Looking forward to the next on June 9!
This was my first Ignite event, it was AWESOME! It would have helped to have looked at previous presentations before I jumped in to present. I’m looking forward to volunteering at future events.
Fantastic, ladies and gentlemen, absolutely fantastic! The presenters, the people, and venue all made for a great show and something for Phoenix and Tempe to be really proud of!
Thanks for having me!

I came in for this Ignite from Broomfield, CO. There was a tremendous amount of professionalism around the event: the organizers, Tempe, the venue, the presenters, the audience.
I had a great time at the after-party: a wonderful conversation with Todd Huffman about topics for grad students to research about our fascial tissues. Geek heaven.
Phoenix: you’ve a shining example of the Ignite movement. Thank you.

Fantastic event as usual. Kudos to the organizers and the presenters. I can’t wait for the next one.
Glad to hear the proposal of adding presenter’s contact info (twitter, email, etc.) to help follow up with presenters. Hopefully something like that can be added to each Blip.TV video (having the contact info on the slides makes it hard to read from the video
Keep it burning!
So much fun – thanks for putting it on!

Well done, all.

Kudos to the Ignite team for pulling together another interesting batch of presenters, topics and venue. I couldn’t get into the tempeCafe wifi link though – did anyone else have fail issues there? Other than that, all good.
Great event! I really appreciate having the opportunity to be a part of it. I was one of the idiots who leaned on the light switch – sorry about that!
I definitely didn’t appreciate the Phoenix bashing. Whether you think Phoenix is great or not, I’m sure you can’t build a healthy community by tearing other communities down. I’d actually love to see more of the Roosevelt Row, Grand Ave and downtown Phx crews involved here. Contact me if you want help with that for the next event. (Or finding a larger venue – maybe the Orpheum? It’s owned by the City of Phoenix.)
During my presentation, I mentioned Canalscape, and you can follow along with that project on twitter: @canalscape.
Thanks again to the sponsors and organizers – great event.

I should add I was the one that presented “Phoenix Flows” about water fountains and the abundance and scarcity of water.
