Big Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes for Ignite!

So much has been happening behind the scenes these last few weeks that life for the Ignite Phoenix crew is starting to feel like an episode of Lost; sans Benjamin Linus—that guy just freaks me out.

Anyway, by now you’re aware that we have sold out of our 400 reserved tickets for the upcoming Ignite Phoenix #4 event on June 16th, BUT we will still be giving out 100 walk-in tickets on the day of the event!

You should also be aware of the fact that you still have until May 22nd to submit a talk for Ignite Phoenix #4! Simply visit the site and click the big submit button at the top.

A New WordPress Theme!

New Ignite Phoenix Website

Speaking of big submit buttons, you may have noticed that the Ignite Phoenix website has a new look courtesy of Mr. Jim Jeffers! If you haven’t seen the new WordPress theme yet, then visit the site and prepare to be blown away!

Here’s a little known fact, Jim actually surprised us with this theme—we had absolutely no idea that it was even in the works! You can read all about the CSS and jQuery trickery Jim used in the theme on his latest blog post.

New Moo MiniCards!

Ignite Phoenix Moo MiniCards

In addition to the new look of the website, Amy Lamp of Forty Media was kind enough to create some new Moo MiniCard designs for us to use! You can see all the Moo MiniCard designs on Forty’s latest blog post.

Don’t be afraid to find us at some of the local meet ups and grab a card for yourself.

New Ignite Phoenix Podcast!

Although the new Ignite Phoenix podcast was revealed in a previous blog post, it is still worth mentioning that the Diva of podcasting, Dani Cutler, has pulled the bubble wrap off the Ignite Phoenix Podcast. Again, this was an idea that Dani came up with on her own without any prompting from us and we’re so excited to see it come to life!

Dani has already lined up several past Ignite Phoenix presenters to interview, so subscribe to the Ignite Phoenix podcast and stay tuned!

New Ignite Slideshow Themes!

The original Ignite slideshow themes served us well in our last three events, but we wanted to give presenters more room to play with while still keeping the Ignite branding intact. I decided to keep the slides as simple as possible while still making them unique, and came up with the following designs.

Welcome to the Dark Slide

Ignite Phoenix Light Slide

Presenters will now have more breathing room for text, charts, images, and anything else they want to put on their slides. If you want a shot at using these new slide designs, then submit a talk—you still have until May 22nd for Ignite Phoenix #4!

But Wait, There’s More!

There is still plenty of work to be done behind the scenes, and we’re still looking for volunteers for the June 16th event as well as sponsors to help us out with the costs. If you’re interested in becoming an Ignite Phoenix sponsor, then feel free to visit the Ignite Phoenix Sponsorships page. And if you’re looking to volunteer or contribute in any other way, simply send us an email.

Sincerely,
~Tomas and the Ignite Phoenix Crew

Hey James, sorry to hear that the new look isn’t working for you; is there something specific that is making it an ‘artsy eyesore’? Would love to have your feedback. ;)
