Ignite Phoenix Needs Your Help

Everyone on the Ignite Phoenix team is jazzed to be holding our next event inside the amazingly gorgeous theater at the Tempe Center for the Arts. If you’ve never been inside, it’s truly a first-class venue. There are nearly 600 seats including two balcony levels.

But as excited as we are about being in the theater, it is giving us growing pains! We need volunteers to help us run the event. That’s where you come in. We need ushers to help seat people in the theater. In addition, each area of the event is currently assessing it’s unique needs for volunteers during the event.

Ushers

We need approximately 20 additional people to serve as ushers for the evening. So, what exactly does an usher do?

  • An usher works a theater door, making sure that everyone who enters has a ticket.
  • In case of an emergency, the ushers would help people exit the theater safely.

All seats are general admission, so the ushers don’t have to help people find their specific seats. However, ushers will be instructing the crowd to fill in empty seats in rows because we expect to have a full house.

If you are interested in being an usher, here’s what you need to do:

  • Attend an usher training session at 4 pm on Tuesday, June 16.
  • Work the doors from 5 pm until 9 pm for the event.

Ushers will be on their feet most of the evening and must wear black pants.

I’m Game! Where Do I Sign Up?

If you want to volunteer for the event on Tuesday, June 16th, drop an email to IgnitePhoenix [at] gmail dot com with the word “volunteer” in the subject. If you want to be an usher, please include that information in your note, along with your name, your phone number, and your email address. Someone from the Ignite Phoenix team will contact you over the next few days. If you have already submitted an email about volunteering, you don’t need to submit another one.

All volunteers get admission to the event, along with an Ignite Phoenix t-shirt. Ushers must wear their t-shirt as part of their usher uniform. This shirt is yours to keep as a thank-you gift from the Ignite Phoenix team.
