What is Ignite Phoenix?
Ignite Phoenix is an evening of short presentations scheduled several times a year. At an event, you hear 18 passionate speakers talking about their favorite topics or projects for just 5 minutes each. The lineup of presenters for each event is unique.
We are thrilled to be selected as the Best Bite-Size Lecture Series 2009 by the Phoenix New Times.
Who should attend Ignite Phoenix?
Anyone who wants to hear new ideas should attend an Ignite Phoenix event. The presentations are informative and often quite humorous. It’s an opportunity to hear ideas and people from outside of your normal sphere of influence. By mixing it up, new and exciting things can happen.
Who is behind Ignite Phoenix?
Ignite Phoenix is a product of the Phoenix Innovation Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides educational and community building events in the Phoenix metropolitan area. A small team of volunteers plans and presents each Ignite Phoenix event. For details about the team, see the Credits page.
Ignite Phoenix is part of the Ignite program sponsored by O’Reilly Media which supports local communities hosting Ignite events in cities around the world. To learn more about the Ignite program, see the Ignite website at Ignite.Oreilly.com.
How can I find out about the next event?

Speakers and Presentations
How do you choose the speakers for each event?
Each presenter submits a proposal and a panel of judges selects the winning presentations. The judges are Ignite Phoenix team members along with community guest judges to provide a wide range of opinions and preferences in the judging process.
How can I learn more about a topic or a presenter?
We schedule informal networking time during and after the event so you have time to connect with any of the evening’s speakers. Most speakers also provide their website, blog, email, and Twitter account information for follow up as well.
Tickets, Venue, and Event
Where is Ignite Phoenix held?
We select different locations throughout the Phoenix metro area for Ignite Phoenix. You can see where the next event is scheduled on our Events page.
How can I get a ticket?
In general, we sell most of the tickets for each event through the venue’s ticket office for a small fee. We reserve some tickets that we offer free to community members at the event on a first-come, first-serve basis until we run out. For ticket details, see our Tickets page.
Do you provide good directions to the event?
Yes, we do. Check out our Event page for detailed directions and maps to the current event location. When possible, we include alternative transportation information, also.
I’m busy that night. Is there any way I can still see the event?
We provide a live streaming video available on the internet at Ustream during the event. We also videotape each presentation, and post the videos online after the event. You can view our Live Stream page during the event.
