Getting there

Phoenix Art Museum

Ignite Phoenix 7 is taking place in the Cummings Great Hall at the Phoenix Art Museum. Need directions? Click on this link for a map with major points highlighted or find simple directions from various parts of the Valley below.

Via METRO light rail:

The Phoenix Art Museum is easily accessible via the METRO light rail system. Simply exit the light rail at the McDowell / Central Ave station and cross to the northeast corner of the intersection. The entrance which Ignite Phoenix attendees will be using is on the north side of the museum, which is just a brief walk up Central Ave.

Light rail trains run until 3:00am, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the after party and still return to your home or the park & ride lot where your car is parked. For further information on riding METRO, visit Valley Metro’s web site at http://www.valleymetro.org/metro_light_rail

From the North:

  • 1-17 South to 1-10 East
  • Exit 7th Avenue, turn left
  • Turn right onto McDowell Rd.
  • Turn left onto Central Ave.
  • The Phoenix Art Museum is located on the northeast corner of McDowell Rd. and Central Ave.

From the East:

  • 202 West to I-10 West
  • Exit 7th Street, or 3rd Street via the carpool lane.
  • Turn right onto 7th Street, or 3rd street.
  • Turn left onto McDowell Rd.
  • Turn right onto Central Ave.
  • The Phoenix Art Museum is located on the northeast corner of McDowell Rd. and Central Ave.

From the South:

  • I-10 West
  • Exit 7th Street, or 3rd Street via the carpool lane.
  • Turn right onto 7th Street, or 3rd street.
  • Turn left onto McDowell Rd.
  • Turn right onto Central Ave.
  • The Phoenix Art Museum is located on the northeast corner of McDowell Rd. and Central Ave.

Parking

Parking will be available at no cost in the Phoenix Art Museum parking lot. Overflow parking can be found just south of the museum at the Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave. Due to large crowds and the limited parking available at the museum, riding light rail to and from Ignite Phoenix is strongly encouraged.

Ticketing, Will Call, Speaker & Sponsor Registration

If you arrive before 5:00pm, please enter the museum through the main entrance at the northwest corner of the building. There will be an Ignite Phoenix table where you can pick up your Will Call tickets, or show your tickets which you received in the mail. After checking in at the table, feel free to peruse the museum at your leisure until the event begins. Note that most of the museum closes at 5:00pm, but Ignite Phoenix attendees will be able to browse exhibits in the South Wing throughout the evening.

If you arrive after 5:00pm, please enter the museum grounds through the mirrored hallway which runs between the Phoenix Art Museum and the Phoenix Theatre. Turn right once you enter the Dorrance Sculpture Garden and proceed to the doors on the west side of the garden. The Will Call table will be located there if you need to pick up your tickets.

If you are a sponsor or speaker, please visit the Speaker/Sponsor table next to Will Call to pick up your tickets.

Pre-event

Joe’s Real BBQ will be providing sliders as pre-event appetizers for only $4, starting at 5:00pm. Also, bars in the Dorrance Sculpture Garden will be serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Cash will be the only payment option for both food and beverages. We will have an ATM on site for use by attendees.

Internet Access

Due to technical limitations, wifi access will not be available at the Phoenix Art Museum. Mobile network access devices are all welcome and we encourage attendees to tweet and interact online during the event.

Live Entertainment

We’re pleased to announce that the Haymarket Squares will be bringing their fantastic punkgrass/alt-folk music to Ignite Phoenix #7! Stay around the Great Hall during intermission and the after party to enjoy their sweet tunes.

After Party

The After Party will be held in the Cummings Great Hall and Dorrance Sculpture Garden. Joe’s Real BBQ will be providing a buffet for $10 during the after party, and the bars will continue serving beverages until 10:30pm. As with the pre-event food and drinks, cash will be the only accepted payment option during the after party. The ATM will be available all evening, so don’t worry if you forget to bring enough money!

There’s an app for that

We are pleased to announce that the Ignite Phoenix iPhone app has been updated with speaker information for Ignite Phoenix #7, and it also features YouTube links to the videos of presentations from Ignite Phoenix #6. You can download the latest version here. We’d like to thank Tim Giron (@jindianzi) of JinDianZi for developing the app for us. Thanks Tim!

Satellite Viewing Location

The official satellite viewing location for Ignite Phoenix #7 will be SuckerPunch Sally’s Diner in Tempe. We’re pleased to have them on board for Ignite Phoenix #7 and we hope that anyone who is not able to join us at the Phoenix Art Museum will enjoy great food and drinks in the company of other Ignite Phoenix fans at SuckerPunch Sally’s.

The diner is located on the northeast corner of University Dr. and Mill Ave. Click here for a map.

LATE CHANGE: We received word that SuckerPunch Sally’s will be closing for the summer and will not be able to host the viewing party. We are currently searching for a new location and will let everyone know as soon as we have secured one. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

UPDATE! MADCAP Theaters on Mill Avenue in Tempe have stepped up to host the satellite viewing party! The fun will be starting around 5:30pm and will last until Ignite Phoenix #7 is over. They will have the concessions open, so you can enjoy your favorite theater snacks while you watch our 18 presenters share their passions. Big thanks to MADCAP for their late-inning relief appearance!
